What is EFT?

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique and is a very modern and exciting therapy. It was developed by the founder of EFT, Gary H, Craig and came over into this country in 1997 and grew from Thought Field Therapy (TFT), which was discovered by Dr Roger Callahan in 1979.

Dr Roger Callahan is a cognitive psychologist and hypnotherapist who in particular specialised in phobias.

Dr Callahan in the 1980's had been studying the Chinese meridians and their effect on emotions when he tapped on certain meridians. He carried out many trials and found that working with clients suffering from phobic conditions; he then applied his knowledge of the meridian points into his therapy and had positive results. To make the connection here between Gary Craig and Roger Callahan they trained in TFT together but Gary Craig went on to modify and simplify the techniques which became EFT.
